| Sasaki Ｉchiyusai Minamoto no Sadamitsu［佐々木一友斎源貞光］ is a member of Sasaki Ichiryusai Sadatoshi's ［佐々木一流斎貞俊］ family. Sadatoshi was said to be worked for Rekko［烈公］ Mito, and later moved to Shiroishi via Shirakawa, and moved to Wakuya at the beginning of the Ansei era in 5th and 6th /1793-1794. This tanto, Sadamitsu, has been misread because he used the ancient kanji ``Kanten Senjimon［漢篆千字文］'' to sign his name, and since he changed his name to Ichiryusai［一流斎］ after 3rd year of Bunkyu, there is a misunderstanding that Sadamitsu was the same person with Sadatoshi, but there is a joint sword of them, same person is wrong. His works made from Manen to Keio era/1860-1868 remain. This tanto is a valuable piece referred to the "Sendai Domain Swordsmiths Meifu/list［仙台藩刀匠銘譜］". It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon shinsa in 2023. |
