| The ear of rice represents fertility and is filled with the wish for a fruitful life. This tsuba is a densely drawn image of ears of rice with chiseling and engraver's techniques. The metal artisan, Masatsugu Takahashi was a desciple of Yoshitsugu Akao. He is famous for making tsuba with the techniques of guri-bori carving and niku-bori openwork. This tsuba has passed the Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 2013. |
